At Swirl Family Coffee Co., we believe some of life's best moments happen over a great cup of coffee.
Our story began as two people raised in very different environments whose lives eventually came together through love, family, adventure, and a shared appreciation for the things that connect people.
Those differences became part of the inspiration behind Swirl Family Coffee Co.
The word Swirl represents more than the beautiful blend of cream and coffee. It represents the blending of people, cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and traditions. We believe our differences make life richer, and there should always be room at the table—and another cup of coffee—for everyone.
Our mission is simple: serve exceptional coffee while creating a brand that celebrates family, diversity, togetherness, authenticity, and community.
Meet Layna
Layna's story begins in a small mountain community in Idaho, the kind of place where nearly everyone knows one another and where the outdoors isn't simply somewhere you visit—it's part of everyday life.
Born and raised surrounded by mountains and wide-open spaces, Layna developed an appreciation for nature, community, family, and simple living at an early age. Those roots continue to influence the way she lives today.
An avid coffee drinker, Layna enjoys the simple pleasure of slowing down with a great cup of coffee. But sitting still isn't something she does very often.
Her passions include gardening, canning, camping, fishing, traveling, farming, and spending time in the mountains. Whether she's growing something in the garden, preserving food she's harvested, casting a fishing line, exploring somewhere new, or simply enjoying the peace of the outdoors, Layna feels most at home when she's connected to nature.
That connection also influences what she puts on the family table.
Layna is passionate about clean, healthy, organic eating and knowing where her food comes from. She raises chickens and turkeys and embraces a farm-to-table lifestyle. With beef coming from cattle raised by the family's rancher, she appreciates the value of producing food responsibly, eating naturally, and maintaining a closer connection between the land and the food her family enjoys.
Her professional life has always centered around people. For more than 28 years, Layna has worked as a cosmetologist and salon owner, building relationships with people from many different backgrounds. Those years have taught her that some of the strongest connections begin with something very simple—a welcoming environment and a good conversation.
Layna brings that same warmth to Swirl Family Coffee Co.
From her small-town Idaho roots to the family farm, Layna believes in community, hospitality, authenticity, and treating people like family.
And, of course, there's usually a cup of coffee somewhere nearby.
Meet Kendall
Kendall's journey to Swirl Family Coffee Co. began very differently.
Raised in a larger city in Arkansas, Kendall experienced a childhood far removed from Layna's small mountain community. Growing up in poverty taught him lessons about perseverance, resourcefulness, hard work, and appreciating what you have.
There were times during his younger years when catching fish wasn't a hobby—it was a way of putting food on the table.
Those experiences stayed with him.
What began as necessity eventually became a lifelong appreciation for fishing, the outdoors, self-reliance, and the satisfaction that comes from providing for yourself and your family. They also helped shape Kendall's belief that where a person starts in life doesn't have to determine where that person finishes.
His journey eventually took him far beyond Arkansas.
Kendall is a retired United States Air Force Combat Veteran, with his military career giving him opportunities to experience parts of the world he could never have imagined as a child. Extensive international travel exposed him to different countries, cultures, foods, traditions, and ways of life.
Those experiences fueled his appreciation for diversity and cultural differences. Along the way, he developed a passion for languages and can communicate in five different languages.
Education and entrepreneurship became equally important parts of his journey. Kendall earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and Computer Science, combining business knowledge with his interest in technology and innovation.
Today, he is also an entrepreneur who owns a business specializing in building and customizing electric vehicles, shuttle and mobile marketing, and distributing parts and accessories allowing him to combine creativity, technology, problem-solving, and business.
But there is another side of Kendall that surprises many people.
He's also a hay farmer.
For someone raised in a larger city, who went on to serve in the military, travel internationally, study business and technology, owns a shuttle and mobile marketing business, and build customized electric vehicles, farming might seem a little out of the ordinary.
That's exactly why he enjoys it.
Working the land provides a completely different kind of satisfaction. Farming reconnects Kendall with many of the lessons he learned growing up—the importance of hard work, patience, self-reliance, and understanding that worthwhile things rarely happen overnight.
When he's not working, farming, or building something, Kendall enjoys sports, hunting, fishing, camping, riding sport bikes, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
Fishing, however, will always mean something a little different to him.
What was once a childhood necessity is now something he can enjoy by choice—a reminder of where he started, how far he has traveled, and why he never takes life's opportunities for granted.
Above everything else, family remains one of the most important things in Kendall's life.
His journey from poverty in Arkansas to military service, international travel, education, entrepreneurship, farming, and family has reinforced a belief that sits at the heart of Swirl Family Coffee Co.:
People should never be defined solely by where they came from.

On paper, Layna and Kendall's stories couldn't look much more different.
And that's exactly what makes their story special.
Their relationship represents what Swirl means.
Different backgrounds don't have to separate people. Different experiences can complement one another. Different cultures can teach one another. And when people are willing to sit down, listen, laugh, share stories, and understand each other, differences can become strengths.
Sometimes all it takes to start that conversation is a cup of coffee.
